Alpha Hill of Alpha City
Sustainable Engineering at its Finest
Alpha Hill is a high-end residential tower situated in Alpha City, which is an integrated, mixed-use development of retail shopping mall and luxury apartment.
When DP Engineers (DPE) embarked on this project, there were already existing piles that were originally designed to support a 36-storey residential building. Due to the re-planning in the project, the new building design has now incorporated 51 stories.
Details
The two 50-storey towers and the 8-storey high-end commercial podium are carefully modelled to ensure design safety & efficiency. The construction of the building involves 152 nos of kingposts to facilitate a semi top-down construction methodology.
Driven by the sustainable spirit that DPE embodies, we crafted an ingenious design in which all the previously installed piles are used and additional piles are added to realise this new design. In the endeavour, DPE re-used 360 bored piles, which would require 24,500 m3 of concrete, or close to 10,000 tonnes of cement. This translates to a hefty saving of 10,000 tonnes of CO2 being released to the environment.
